Unmountable Boot Volume XP

Problem with a Compaq Evo N620.

Error on boot with “Unmountable Boot Volume” on BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death).

Not particularly difficult to fix but time consuming nonetheless.

Steps :

  1. Remove hard drive from Laptop
  2. Plug laptop into desktop computer with 2.5″ to 3.5″ adapter cable.
  3. Boot PC
  4. The PC should find the drive and run CHKDSK automatically on it.
  5. Errors were found and corrected.
  6. Drive returned to laptop and all was well.
